Lucknow: The 67th convocation of Lucknow University, Lucknow was held under the chairmanship of the Governor and Chancellor of the state, Anandiben Patel. A total of 1,06,306 degrees were awarded to the students and 196 medals to 105 meritorious students in the ceremony. The maximum of 13 medals were awarded to Shailaja Chaurasia, which included 10 gold medals. All the degrees were uploaded on DigiLocker.
On this occasion, the Director of Space Applications Center, Ahmedabad, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Nilesh M. Desai was conferred an honorary degree by the Chancellor.
In the ceremony, the Governor congratulated and wished all the degree and medal receiving students and their parents present and said that on the daughters getting the maximum medals, this creates confidence that India will definitely become a Vishwaguru one day. He expressed happiness over the high number of teacher parents among the parents of the medal recipients and said that the foundation of the child is strengthened by the presence of a teacher in school and home.
On this occasion, the Chancellor, in her address, while discussing the positive changes in Lucknow University, said that commitment, goal setting and mutual cooperation lead to beautiful results and change can be brought about by this. She appreciated the implementation of Samarth Portal by the University, uploading of mark sheets along with degree in DigiLocker, implementation of National Education Policy-2020, achieving ‘A Plus Plus’ grading in NAAC and also getting good ranking in NIRF.
The Governor described the convocation as a special occasion for the students when they enter practical knowledge and real life after receiving education. She said that it is the moral responsibility of the students to return the acquired knowledge to the society in a meaningful and positive manner. She said that we have to move forward towards finding solutions for water conservation, disaster protection, prevention of pollution, achieving the goal of sustainable development.
The Governor described the present era as the era of science and technology and said that the education system will have to be changed by connecting it with technology. She said that the university should try to ensure that students connect digitally along with classroom teaching. The university should encourage students to play sports and prepare such players who can proudly raise the head of the country and state. Emphasis should be laid on the overall development of students and create such a student community that not only becomes the carrier of the current era but also of its cultural heritage.
The Chancellor said in her address that teaching is a great work, which imparts knowledge from one generation to the other. She said that the university should act as a bridge for the development of Anganwadi centres and inspire children. She said that these children will be the future of tomorrow and will be the basis for giving concrete shape to the concept of Prime Minister’s developed India-2047. She said that it is important for people to have a sense of social responsibility.
The Governor, while drawing attention of the people present in the function towards climate change, appealed to plant more and more trees, conserve water and reduce pollution and said that he is confident that India will lead the world in this field as well.
On this occasion, the Governor provided 200 Anganwadi kits to enrich the Anganwadi centres, courtesy of the University and the District Administration, Sitapur. Out of these kits, 100 kits were distributed with the cooperation of the University and 100 kits with the cooperation of the District Administration, Sitapur.
Under the inspiration and guidance of the Governor, 17,226 Anganwadi kits have been distributed so far in an effort to enrich the Anganwadi centres across the state. On this occasion, the winning participants in painting, speech, storytelling and sports competitions were awarded in the council schools of 05 villages adopted by the University and books were also provided to the teachers for the children of primary schools on behalf of the Raj Bhavan.
While awarding the winning participants of the competition organized among the children of the village adopted by the University, he said that such competitions should be held, which develop healthy, positive and cooperative spirit in children.
On this occasion, the Chief Guest of the convocation and father of supercomputer Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Pandurang Bhatkar congratulated and wished the students who received degrees and medals. He encouraged the students and said that the coming world is yours.
On this occasion, the State Higher Education Minister, Yogendra Upadhyaya encouraged the students and said that for achieving this position, one should express gratitude to their parents and teachers. He said that the students will have to fulfill the concept of developed India of the Prime Minister through their role. He said that only that education is successful which inspires honesty and national service.
On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Alok Kumar Rai, members of the General Council, Executive Council and Academic Council, teachers, Anganwadi workers, school children etc. were present.
